Reception Admissions for September 2026
Welcome to Oaklands Primary School Admissions page. Yesterday, you had the opportunity to meet the whole team as well as a guided tour of our reception classes. Please read below reminder of Important details:
Reception Starting School in September 2026
We have a transition into Reception to give the staff a chance to get to know each child, develop your child’s confidence in their new environment and build your child up to full time schooling.
The outline is:
Soft Start morning – Friday 4th September 2026
As part of the transition period all children will attend this day from 8.50am – 10.30am.
Children should be brought to school for 8.50am and collected via the Oaklands Nursery entrance at 10.30am.
Monday 7th September 2026
All children attend a half a day from 8.50am – 12.00pm
Children should be brought to school for 8.50am and collected via the Oaklands Nursery entrance at 12.00pm.
Tuesday 8th September – Wednesday 9th September 2026
Your child will attend a morning session and stay for their lunch provided by ISS Catering Company, finishing at 1.15pm. They will be brought in for 8.50am and collected at 1.15pm via the Oaklands Nursery entrance.
From Thursday 10th September 2026 onward
Your child will attend full time school starting at 8.50am and to be collected by 3.20pm. They can bring a packed lunch or they can eat a school lunch which is provided free of charge under the Government universal free school meals initiative, please ensure to register your child before September the link can be found on our website under the parents tab.
Meet the teacher
In September, you will be invited to a ‘meet the teacher’ evening where you will get the
chance to see your child’s classroom and hear about how children learn in Reception at
Oaklands. Details of the date for this meeting will be sent to you in September.
